Grade 1-7
PRIMARY
EDUCATION
In the Lower Grades, our curriculum is strategically crafted to cultivate deep academic engagement while promoting the personal growth of each student. We offer a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment that empowers our students to reach their highest academic and developmental potential. Our Lower Grade program lays a strong foundation for students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally as they progress through their educational journey.
Curriculum Overview
The curriculum emphasises the importance of recognising the prior knowledge that studentsbring to new experiences, enabling children to make connections between their previous and current understandings. The framework incorporates five essential elements concepts,
knowledge, skills, attitudes, and action ensuring that students have the opportunity to:
- Acquire knowledge that is relevant and globally significant.
- Develop an understanding of concepts and make connections throughout their learning.
- Gain interdisciplinary and disciplinary skills.
- Cultivate attitudes that foster international-mindedness.
- Take action as a result of their learning.
Inquiry-based Teaching Methodology
We offer a transdisciplinary, inquiry-based and student-centered education with responsible action at its core, enabling students to learn between, across and beyond traditional subject boundaries, with the opportunity to incorporate local and global issues into the curriculum and effectively allow students to “step up” beyond the confines of learning within subject areas.
In Primary, we teach a variety of subjects, including Maths, Literacy, Science, Humanities, Physical Education (PE), Art, ICT, Swahili, Swimming, and Drama. Immersion in English begins from the first day of school, although it is complemented by the learning of other languages as they progress through school.
